The most popular winter ski event! Marquette’s 25th Noquemanon Ski Marathon has been fascinating recreational cross-country skiers worldwide for over two decades. It has been attracting the best in the field for this time period. It takes place from 27th to 28th January. First, the full marathon 50K starts at Al Quaal Recreation Area in Ishpeming, the origin of organized skiing. It then finishes at Lake Superior’s shores in Marquette. Also, there are Half Noque, 12K, snowshoe, and junior ski events throughout the weekend. Many skiers have taken on Ishpeming’s point-to-point 50K or 24K adventure as well. Skiers find hard and softwood forests, rocky paths, and lake traverses. They also get bird’s eye views of creeks, Lake Superior, and many waterfalls. The trails also have a 1000-foot drop. The idea of adventure is added to by the isolation of many marathon areas.
